The New York Jets are an absolute mess.
Their team is in a civil war. An unnamed Jets player called QB Mark Sanchez “lazy and content” in an interview to the NY Daily News. Offensive Coordinator Marty Schottenheimer isn’t returning, also. Former Dolphins HC Tony Sparano is working for the Jets at that same position. LB Bart Scott just got fined a several thousand for doing the middle finger at a photographer in the Jet locker room.
This is warfare, and the Jets are in big trouble. In a division with the Patriots, if they keep having this unnecessary commotion, they will get nowhere in the division standings. They also have a ton of problems on their football roster, with a ton of holes all over the depth chart.
Rex Ryan’s team needs a QB to push Sanchez, and with the likely availability of Peyton Manning, there is a perfect chance for Sanchez to come back to reality. The same unnamed player said he would love for the Jets to get Manning.
Their defense is falling apart, too. Two years ago they were seen as a defensive powerhouse, but that is clearly not the case right now. They had their struggles throughout their season. LSU DB Tyrann Mathieu would be a fantastic player for the Jets to pick up in the draft this season. Mathieu is an all-out, dynamic playmaker.
The Jets have to reconnect these players and change the locker room culture. They need to reunite and get ready for next season.
