Rutgers Scarlet Knights HC Greg Schiano is going to be the Head Coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Schiano took over the Rutger football team in 2001 when it was—in all honesty—an atrocious football team. He turned the team around slowly, but successfully.
The Buccaneers are desperate for a turnaround. The Bucs had a seemingly flukish 2010 campaign in which they finished at a fantastic 10-6 record. Tampa Bay barely missed the playoffs, but the following season was a completely different story.
In 2011, the Bucs finished 4-12. The majority of the roster was having an off year. In the draft, the Buccaneers have the fifth overall pick. Bucs CB Ronde Barber isn’t getting any younger meanwhile CB Aqib Talib is having off the field issues, so LSU Tiger CB Maurice Claiborne seems to be the frontrunner for their pick.
Schiano needs a quicker turnaround than when he was coaching for Rutgers. As Jerry Glanville once said, “this is the NFL. You know what that means? Not for long.” The Bucs can’t afford another awful year. They are far too familiar with them.
