Saints HC Sean Payton, the team, assistant coach Joey Vitt, and GM Mickey Loomis have appealed their suspensions, according to NFL.com.
Payton, Vitt, and Loomis were suspended because of the Saints’ bounty systems, in which defensive players were rewarded money for certain tackles, hits, and plays.
St. Louis Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who was with the Saints back when they ran the bounties, was suspended indefinitely. Payton was suspended a year, and Loomis eight games topped with a $500k fine. The Saints were also fined $500k and were forced to forfeit two second round picks.
Williams will not appeal, according to sources. Like the Saints, the Rams are in a tough position because their newly hired defensive coordinator is now dealing with a lengthy suspension.
Former HC Bill Parcells was rumored to be a candidate to serve an interim role for the Saints, according to sources.
