NFL Draft: Which Defensive Tackles Are Worth A First-Round Pick?

The draft is in less than a month, but the big boards are still shifting every day.

This year, a ubiquitous need among many NFL teams is the defensive tackle position. DT’s Fletcher Cox, Dontari Poe, Michael Brockers, and Devon Still are all prime tackles bound to be a first-round pick.

Other possible first-round defensive line anchors include Jerel Worthy, Kendall Reyes, and Brandon Thompson. However, which ones truly belong in the draft’s opening round?

Worthy definitely deserves a first-round pick. Leading up to the 2011 season, he was regarded as a top five pick, but his stock plummeted as the season continued. Worthy is worth a first-rounder.

On the other hand, I think Reyes and Thompson are second round picks at best. Teams shouldn’t spend a first rounder on them, unless they have deep interest in the prospect.
