New York Giants: Prime WR Breaks Foot

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks broke his fifth metatarsal in his foot, according to reports.

The former UNC Tar Heel was a key portion in the Giants’ infamous Super Bowl run, which peaked with a prime time, internationally viewed victory against an AFC powerhouse, the New England Patriots.

The injury is expected to sideline the wideout for twelve weeks. However, Nicks could miss the season opener.

The loss of Nicks puts more media spotlight on breakout WR Victor Cruz, who’s known for his hysterical touchdown celebration Salsa dance. Giants Super Bowl hero WR Mario Manningham was lost via free agency, notably. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers.

The G-Men won’t even have a one-two punch when Nicks is on the sideline, unless second round pick Rueben Randle, who is said to be “NFL Ready”, steps up.

Nicks caught 76 footballs for 1192 yards last regular season.
