The other Ryan brother is changing the defensive scheme and most likely going to revamp the defensive roster. NOLA, are you excited?

Former Dallas Cowboys Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan has been hired to the same role for the New Orleans Saints.

Last year, under DC Steve Spagnuolo, the Saints had the last ranked defense in the entire league. They were sloppy, and yards came easy when you faced this lackadaisical unit.

With Dallas in 2012, Ryan’s defensive squad ranked 19th in the NFL. It was his second year with the job.

The most notable change that will occur is the switch from the 4-3 defense to the more modern 3-4 base set. Expect a pass rush-oriented philosophy and either a hefty defensive end or smaller outside linebacker first round draft pick from NOLA.

Ryan’s displays significant intensity, which can be both a positive and a negative. He gets very emotional, but perhaps a tad too much for an adult. If Ryan can keep calm, this defense will return to dominance soon.
