New York Jets LB Bart Scott, a familiar face on the defense, won’t be donning Gang Green anymore.

The New York Jets have salary cap issues, and are paying the price for these monetary problems.

They cut ties many key players. They released LB Bart Scott and waived S Eric Smith, OT Jason Smith, TE Josh Baker, and LB Calvin Pace.

There are rumors floating around of a CB Darrelle Revis departure, which would just add to the mix of Jet transactions. They should have fired HC Rex Ryan earlier this year, though.

All of these moves will contribute to a stage of Jets renovation, but to start off fresh they need to cut ties with Ryan, let QB Mark Sanchez’s contract expire, and somehow deported QB Tim Tebow to a Floridian team.

These moves are necessary from a monetary perspective, but more significant changes up front will have to occur if the Jets want a shot at playoff success.
