USC Trojans QB Matt Barkley was once viewed as a top ten pick. Now, he is struggling to crack the first round in many mock drafts.

USC Trojans QB Matt Barkley has taken a Jake Locker-esque draft stock collapse. If he left college early, his draft stock would have been much higher than what it is now.

With the Scouting Combine right around the corner, Barkley has a lot to prove to NFL scouts. He won’t throw at the Combine, but needs to strive in many other drills.

Barkley needs to reassure his athleticism. He needs a strong 40-yard dash. It should be under the 4.7 mark. Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III both accomplished that mark last season.

He also should bench a significant number of reps. The necessity of arm strength for quarterbacks is growing as fast as ProFootballGolden’s fan base is (very quickly).

To receive the payday he deserves and a shot to turn around a bleeding team, Barkley needs to set the foundry with an elite Combine showing.
