Green Bay Packers OLB Clay Matthews is one of the most feared pass rushers in the NFL. He sacks quarterbacks on an extremely productive basis, and just received a giant contract extension.
Since entering the NFL in 2009, Green Bay Packers OLB Clay Matthews has tallied 42.5 sacks.
Matthews is a sack machine for Green Bay, and signed a heavy extension with the Packers on Wednesday. The deal is five years and $66 Million. It’s a whole lot of dough, but Matthews is worth every penny.
While playing for the USC Trojans, Matthews registered 5.5 sacks during his four-year college career. He ended up as a late first round pick, but has played like a first overall selection since he was drafted in 2009.
Matthews will be a fantastic player for years to come. The Packers, led by Matthews defensively and QB Aaron Rodgers offensively, are certainly Super Bowl contenders. Rodgers could be the next Packer to receive a prodigious extension.
