A scary incident occurred Saturday at San Diego Chargers’ practice.

WR Eddie Royal was carted off the field after landing on his back. Safety Eric Weddle had this to say:

Phenomenal catch. He was about 10 feet in the air. He just fell straight down on his back. Hopefully, he’ll be OK. He’s tough.

Royal stood on his feet and walked to the trainer’s room, but stopped and reportedly received oxygen. He was then carted off the field via a gurney and transported to a hospital.

Royal was suffering shortness of breath when he was on the field. It is unclear what the injury is thus far.

Recently, Chargers WR Danario Alexander tore his ACL and Chargers WR Malcom Floyd strained his knee.

Royal was a Denver Broncos’ second round pick in 2008 out of Virginia Tech. He signed with the Chargers in 2012.
