Championship Sunday In Review

Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman was in the headlines after a memorable, post-game interview.

AFC Championship: (1) Denver Broncos, 26, (2), New England Patriots, 16

Broncos QB Peyton Manning put up 400 passing yards and two touchdowns en route to punching a ticket to the Super Bowl. The Broncos put up points early, and unlike their previous meeting with the Pats, they maintained a comfortable lead throughout the game.

The Patriots’ run game was shut down, and without TE Rob Gronkowski, the aerial attack was not as effective as usual. QB Tom Brady was held to one touchdown.

NFC Championship: (1) Seattle Seahawks, 23, (5) San Francisco 49ers, 17

49ers QB Colin Kaepernick was accountable for three turnovers, all coming in the fourth quarter. His final interception, which was deflected by ‘Hawks CB Richard Sherman and intercepted by LB Malcolm Smith, ended all hopes of a Super Bowl berth.

Sherman’s post-game reaction went abuzz. Sherman’s excitement surfaced during this interview with Erin Andrews. Sherman, who attended Stanford, was composed and collected during a later interview, but regardless his sheer post-game emotion grabbed the headlines on Monday.
