Johnson is notorious for his 2006-rushing yard season in 2009. However, “CJ2K” has never been close. In 2010, Johnson’s 1364-rushing yard tally was considered a disappointment. Johnson hasn’t even replicated his 2010 season.
The 28-year old East Carolina product’s lucrative $10 Million cap hit (per Spotrac) and his lack of productive appear to be the transaction’s foundation.
At a reasonable price, Johnson will be a valuable, veteran asset to a backfield that will allow him to work in open space. While Johnson’s days of outracing entire defenses may be over, his elusiveness is undoubtedly an edge.
