Despite a solid preseason outing, New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick is still fellow Jets QB Geno Smith’s backup, per the NY Daily News.
Vick completed three out of six passes for 17 yards. His numbers were moderate and preseason-esque, but Vick did dash three times for 19 yards.
Four of Smith’s six passes were completed. The former West Virginia Mountaineer tacked on ten yards on the ground.
Vick’s renowned athleticism was on show, which, at the very least, could spark a quarterback controversy. HC Rex Ryan was quick to dodge the question about Vick’s push for the starting job.
Unless Smith’s season is very subpar, Vick will be delegated to clipboard duty.
