Houston Texans defensive lineman JJ Watt inked a six-year, $100 contract, according to Houston Chronicle writer John McClain. Per Spotrac, Watt will earn $906,378 in base salary in 2014 and $6.9 Million in base salary in 2015.
Watt, who many recognize as the league’s top defensive player, recorded 65 tackles and 10.5 sacks last season. In 2012, Watt registered 20.5 sacks.
The 6’5″, 290-pound 2011 first round pick dominates the trenches every Sunday. Now, paired with rookie linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, Watt will have less blockers attempt to slow his pass rush.
Watt will certainly continue wreaking havoc. The Texans will have a very strong pass rush this season and in the future.
