Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone announced that the team will start quarterback Kyle Orton instead of EJ Manuel when the Bills play the Detroit Lions this week.
The Bills currently have a 2-2 record under Manuel. The 2013 first round draft pick has completed 76 of his 131 attempts (58.0%) for five touchdowns and three interceptions.
After a 2-0 start, the Bills have fallen to their current .500 record. Marrone said that the team “can’t keep going in the direction that [they are] going.”
The decision to bench Manuel seems very early, as Manuel should have gotten more opportunities this season. With that being said, Manuel hasn’t dazzled like he was expected to.
