Hours before the New England Patriots hosted the Denver Broncos, snow dumped on Gilette Stadium’s FieldTurf.
The snow was plowed off the field, and quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton Manning squared off in what was their sixteenth head-to-head matchup, and what could be the deciding factor for AFC home-field advantage when playoff time rolls around.
The Patriots flattened the Broncos 43-21.
Patriots wide receiver/punt returner Julian Edelman hauled in a pass touchdown and returned a punt 84 yards to the house. Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski added 105 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Brady completed 33 of his 53 attempts for 333 yards, four touchdowns, and a pick. Manning completed 34 of his 57 attempts for 438 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
While New England won today, the Patriots and Broncos will could very well meet in the playoffs.
