Yesterday, Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden stated, “At this time, right now, [quarterback] Robert [Griffin III]’s my guy, right now,” per ProFootballTalk.
However, late Tuesday night, ESPN Insider Adam Schefter reported that the Redskins are planning to start QB Colt McCoy in lieu of the former second overall draft pick.
In the five games RG3 has started this season, the Redskins are 1-4. RG3 was injured and exited the sole game the ‘Skins won when he started. QB Kirk Cousins was the next man up, but was benched later in the season for QB Colt McCoy, who was relegated down the depth chart when RG3 became healthy.
But McCoy added the biggest spark to the offense out of the trio, and the 3-8 Redskins need all the productivity they can get.
