Quinn Named Falcons’ Coach

Less than a day after losing the Super Bowl 28-24 against the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator was named the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

The Seahawks’ defense has been one of the best in the NFL for numerous years. The defense has been the centerpiece of two NFC Titles and one Super Bowl ring.

In the 2014 regular season, the Seahawks’ defense was first in the league in total defense (267.1 yards/game), pass defense, (185.6 yards/game), and scoring defense (15.9). The Falcons were worst in yards/play (6.1), and the Seahawks were the top defense in that category (4.6).

The Falcons’ offense is relatively stable, but there is definitely work to be done on the defense to return to the playoffs, which they have not done since 2012.
