The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released quarterback Josh McCown, according to their official Twitter page.
McCown spent one year with the team. As a starter, McCown went 1-10. The Buccaneers were 2-14.
Before his brief stint with the Buccaneers, McCown threw 13 touchdowns to one pick in eight games with the Chicago Bears. McCown kept the Bears at least in the hunt for the playoffs.
McCown’s entrance into the free agency adds another name to an underwhelming pool of free agent QB’s. McCown, Mark Sanchez, and Brian Hoyer are some of the top quarterbacks available this offseason.
And with the 2015 QB draft class appearing very thin as well, teams looking for quarterbacks will have a tough time finding a new signal caller.
