Golden Analysis: Maclin’s Value

Wide receivers Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, Randall Cobb, Hakeem Nicks, Torrey Smith, Demaryius Thomas, Reggie Wayne, and Wes Welker are all slated to hit free agency this offseason. Some will return to their 2014 teams, but several talented receivers will be available in a matter of weeks.

In 2014, Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin inked a one-year deal following a season spent on the IR with a torn ACL. Maclin’s decision to sign a one-year deal will pay dividends in 2015 and beyond.

Maclin, who is another UFA WR, had a fantastic 2014 season. He recorded 85 receptions, 1318 yards, and ten touchdowns, and didn’t miss a game.

In all likelihood, Maclin will be a number one receiver on his next team, and could sign a deal similar to Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson’s three-year, $24 Million contract or New York Jets WR Eric Decker’s five-year, $36.25 Million contract, which were both signed in 2014.

Regardless of the contract’s length, Maclin will be paid like a top receiver.
