With on-field drills beginning this Friday, the 2015 Scouting Combine will be a pivotal event in the draft process. Athleticism will be on full display in Indianapolis.
The Rise of Edge Rushers
Florida DE/OLB Dante Fowler is a talented edge rusher, and is one of several possible first round picks that could boost their draft stock with a good showing at the combine. Last year, South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney was the first pick, and ran a 4.53 40-yard dash at the combine.
Explosiveness of Offensive Lineman
Offensive lineman probably won’t be running 40-yard sprints on gamedays in the NFL. For the big guys up front, explosiveness in the broad jump, three cone drill, and the ten-yard split are all solid indicators of burst.
Mariota, Winston To Throw
Quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota both will throw at the Combine, according to a report. QB’s have ditched throwing at the Combine in years past due to a lack of timing and rhythm with the receiver prospects. Mariota and Winston both have the chance to establish how they can throw numerous routes, even if it’s in shorts and a t-shirt.
