Former Denver Broncos tight end Julius Thomas will sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Denver Post writer Mike Klis tweeted that the Broncos didn’t even make a call.
The Broncos elected to franchise tag wide receiver Demaryius Thomas earlier in March, so their priorities were clearly set on a long-term deal with the wideout, not the tight end.
Regardless, Julius had two 12-touchdown campaigns while with the Broncos. He was a fourth round pick in 2011 out of Portland State.
With one season of NFL experience and now a perennial red zone threat, second-year quarterback Blake Bortles should improve on his numbers from 2014.
