Murray Joins Philly
Running back DeMarco Murray signed a five-year, $52 Million deal, according to Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen. The Dallas Cowboys couldn’t reach an extension with the NFL’s 2014 leading rusher, and will have to face Murray at least twice every season. Last season, Murray rushed for 1845 yards on 392 carries (4.7 yards/attempt) and 13 touchdowns. He averaged a staggering 115.3 yards/game.
The Eagles signed RB Ryan Mathews yesterday and already had RB Darren Sproles on the roster prior to free agency, so the position is very deep if not crowded. Murray reportedly had interest in the Eagles’ spread offense, and newly acquired quarterback Sam Bradford, who roomed with Murray in college at Mizzou.
Ravens Retain Forsett
The Baltimore Ravens and RB Justin Forsett agreed to a three-year, $9 Million deal. The 29-year old had a breakout season in 2014, as he totaled 235 carries, 1266 rushing yards, and eight touchdowns. His 5.4 yards/attempt average was the highest of any running back in the league last season.
Cromartie Returns to the Jets
The New York Jets signed cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who, in 2014, played for the Arizona Cardinals under then-defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, who is the Jets’ new head coach. Cromartie played with the Jets from 2010-2013, and shared the field with CB Darrelle Revis through the 2012 season. Revis signed with the Jets earlier this week.
