Golden Analysis: NFC East

Led by quarterback Kirk Cousins, the Washington Redskins topped the New York Giants 20-14 and, for the moment, are first in the NFC East.

Yes, the 5-6 Redskins are leading the NFC East. They are 2-1 in division play through Week 12.

Washington Redskins 5-6
New York Giants 5-6
Philadelphia Eagles 4-7
Dallas Cowboys 3-8

The Giants have been a rollercoaster all season. Last week, they narrowly fell to the New England Patriots, who are undefeated leading up to their Week 12 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

The Philadelphia Eagles have struggled all season despite head coach Chip Kelly’s offseason roster overhaul. The Eagles lost to the Detroit Lions 45-14 on Thanksgiving.

During the Dallas Cowboys’ 33-14 loss to the undefeated Carolina Panthers,  QB Tony Romo reinjured his shoulder, which previously kept him off the field for several games. Romo is out for the season, and the Cowboys’ playoff chances are infinitesimal at best.

In all likelihood, the NFC East will be won by either the Redskins or the Giants. The Redskins will face the Cowboys next week, and the Giants are set to square off against the New York Jets.
