Dalton Fractures Thumb as Bengals Fall to Steelers

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton fractured his thumb on his throwing hand during the first quarter of the Bengals’ 33-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The injury occurred when Dalton attempted to tackle a defensive player following an interception.

Dalton will not play next week against the San Francisco 49ers. According to ESPN, Dalton could be out for the season.

Star tight end Tyler Eifert was also injured during the game. He exited with a concussion.

This season, Dalton has played very well. He has completed 252 passes on 381 attempts (68.1 completion rate) for 3191 yards, 25 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Dalton also has three rushing touchdowns.

The Bengals’ success this season is largely due to Dalton’s quarterbacking. Backup QB AJ McCarron will start for the 10-3 Bengals in Dalton’s absence.
