Rams to Return to L.A.; Chargers May Join

The NFL owners voted 30-2 and approved the relocation of the St. Louis Rams to Los Angeles. The Rams played in L.A. from 1946-1994 before moving to St. Louis.

The Chargers have the option to relocate to Los Angeles. The Raiders were the third team looking to move to L.A., but they withdrew their application for relocation.

The city of St. Louis was looking to retain their football team. Recently, they approved $150 Million in funding for a new stadium. However, the NFL is a business, and L.A. is simply a larger market. In 2015, the Rams finished last in the league in average attendance.

The Rams will move immediately and will eventually play in owner Stan Kroenke’s proposed stadium in Inglewood, California, in 2019.
