Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith signed a five-year, $51.25 million extension that includes a $10 million signing bonus and $15.27 guaranteed.
Smith is one of the best safeties in the league. He is a cornerstone in the Vikings’ up-and-coming defense.
Smith will be the second-highest paid safety in the league this year behind Kansas City Chiefs S Eric Berry, who received the franchise tag this offseason. Currently, Smith is the highest-paid safety with a long-term deal. Berry and Arizona Cardinals S Tyrann Mathieu could receive long-term deals this offseason.
