Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak is planning to start quarterback Trevor Siemian this week. At the same press conference, Kubiak said he wants to choose a starting quarterback before the Broncos’ fourth preseason tilt.
Siemian is competing with Mark Sanchez and Paxton Lynch. Siemian, a 2015 seventh round pick, is the only quarterback on the roster who played with the Broncos last year. Sanchez signed with Denver this offseason, and Lynch was the Broncos’ first round pick this year.
Through two games, Siemian has done a better job than Sanchez at protecting the football. Both have thrown one interception, but Sanchez has lost two fumbles. Lynch is the dark horse because he lacks experience. Whichever quarterback makes fewer mistakes is likely to win the job, and thus far, Siemian is outpacing Sanchez and Lynch in that category.
