Rookie quarterback Carson Wentz led the Philadelphia Eagles to a 29-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
Despite playing only 38 snaps this preseason, Wentz had a great NFL debut. He completed 22 passes on 37 attempts for 278 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.
On his first drive, Wentz manufactured a nine play, 75-yard drive that ended with a touchdown pass to wide receiver Jordan Matthews.
When the Eagles traded then-starting QB Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings and named Wentz their starter last week, it was very surprising to see the amount of confidence they had in a rookie who barely played in the preseason. Wentz’s potential was on full display today, but his challenge for this season is to play at that level week in and week out.
