Vikings Lose for Third Consecutive Week

The Minnesota Vikings fell to 5-3 with a 22-16 overtime loss to the Detroit Lions. After starting 5-0, the Vikings cooled off. The Vikings have lost three straight games following their bye week.

The Vikings had a 16-13 lead with 23 seconds left, but Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford completed two passes that set up kicker Matt Prater’s 58-yard field goal.

While the Vikings played better in this loss than they had in the previous two, they showed their need for improvement. The Vikes will try to get back on track when they play the Washington Redskins this week.

Carr Leads Raiders to Victory

Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr threw for 513 yards, four touchdowns, and no picks during the Raiders’ 30-24 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Carr is the third player in NFL history to throw for 500 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Y.A. Tittle (1962) and Ben Roethlisberger (2014) are the other two players who have reached that mark.

While Carr set a franchise record for passing yards, the Raiders set a league record with 23 penalties on the day. The Raiders gave up 200 yards to penalties.

The Raiders advanced to 6-2, and will face the 6-2 Denver Broncos next week.
